Interment will be in St. John Berchman Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Henry Broussard, pastor of St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Bearb was a native of the Bosco community and a lifelong resident of Church Point, LA. She was a parishioner of St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton and had been a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. Her greatest pleasure was found in babysitting her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald James Bearb of Lafayette, Ricky Paul Bearb of Cankton, and John Perry Bearb and his wife, Tina, of Lafayette; two daughters, Nellie Leger and her husband, Ludrine, of Scott and Dianne Linder and her husband, James, of Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Brent Leger, Scott Bearb, Nicole Linder Powell, Brady Bearb, Paige Bearb, Amanda Bearb and Joshua Bearb; four great grandchildren, Britney Leger, Alyssa Leger, Bradyn Bearb and Julia Bearb; two step-grandchildren, Lexi Stelly and Jenna Bearb; and one brother, Phillip Melancon of Mire.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Advia Joseph Bearb; one daughter, Sylvia Bearb; one granddaughter, Tiffanie Bearb; her parents, Onezime Melancon, Sr. and the former Emily Thibodeaux, both natives of Mire; six brothers, Charles Melancon, Duma Melancon, Moise Melancon, Clophia Melancon, Onezime Melancon, Jr., and Henry Melancon; and two sisters, Odelise Thibodeaux and Odite Thibodeaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
