Ulysses Grant "Asa" Belcher was the son of Charles Wesley Belcher (1831-1911) and Eliza "Elsey" Dye (1833-1900). Both of Asa's parents were born in Russell Co., Virginia and spent their entire lives there.

Asa married Mary Alice Shepherd in 1887. About 1916 they moved from Russell Co., VA to Boyle Co., KY where they lived the rest of their lives.

Asa died in 1930 as the result of a train-auto accident. He was 60 years of age. He and Alice had been married for 43 years and had 19 known children!

Asa and his wife Alice are buried in the Wilson Cemetery in Boyle Co., Kentucky along with several of their children.
