Seminole resident Irene Fairfax Evans departed this life Monday, Nov. 5, in Seminole at the age of 88.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1918, in Tryon, Okla., to Wilbur Garland and Mary Ann (Melchert) Haley. She graduated from Carney High School in 1937.

Irene married Leo "Pete" Wesley Evans on March 21, 1952, in Burlington, Colo.

She was a home maker and master gardener. Irene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cortez, Colorado.

Her parents, husband, two brothers, Ira E. Howser and J.B. Howser, preceded Irene in death.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Daryl and Cheri Howser of Seminole, Jerrod and Tyler Howser of Stillwater, J.B. and Sondra Howser of Oklahoma City, David Bryan Howser of Weatherford, Marvin Evans of Stroud, Lovita Brewer of Stroud and Alan and Sue Crump of Maumelle, Ark; special friends, Jimmy and Nelda Barnett of Albuquerque, N.M., other relatives and many friends.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Service under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
