Mrs. Florence Roszella Gideon, 70, of 2118 Johnson Drive, Ventura, died in a local hospital today after a long illness.

Born November 11, 1899, in Lidderdale, Iowa, Mrs. Gideon came to Ventura 14 years ago from Spokane, Washington.

She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church; the Navy Gold Star Mothers; the Ventura American Legion Auxiliary; and a past president of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Mrs. Gideon is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Cecelia B. Pike of Oxnard, Mrs. Elizabeth Kinsfather of Ventura, Mrs. Frances R. Haupt of Oregon, and Mrs. Mary E. Pomada of Bakersfield; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8:15 p.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Friends may call between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow in the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Chapel, Ventura.

A requiem Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Ventura. Burial will be in Santa Clara Cemetery.
