Bernard Hayes died Friday at his home at 506 Sheridan Avenue, south Ottumwa, aged 60 years, 3 months and 4 days. the funeral was held Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Ottumwa, father O'Farrell officiating. the interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
Bernard Sylvester Hayes was born in Ohio February 9, 1844. He was married to Miss Mary C. Carey January 11,1873 and they came to Iowa about 30 years ago, locating in Wapello County, where the had since lived. Mr. Hayes is Survived by his wife and seven Children:
Mrs. Mary E. Bennett of Hedrick;
Mrs Lizzie A. Adcock, of Ottumwa;John W.,Charles B.,George L.,Florence R.,and Bernardett Hayes
all of whom mourn him deeply. died May 13, 1904

died this morning at 1 o'clock at his home 506 south Sheridan Avenue. He was 60 years of age and had resided in South Ottumwa for a number of years. He is survived by his wife and several children. the funeral services will be conducted from St. Patrick's Catholic Church saturday morning at 9 o'clock,
Rev. Father John O'Farrell officiating. Interment will be made in the Calvary Cemetery.
