Jacob G. Berberick, 86, Topeka, died Saturday July 18, 1992 at a Topeka nursing home. Mr. Berberick was a coach carman of the Santa Fe Railway shops. He retired in July 1971.

He was born July 1, 1906 in Topeka, the son of Jacob and Margaret Steckman Berberick. Mr. Berberick was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was married to Catherine T. Best on August 24, 1926 in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include five sons, Bill Berberick, Don Berberick and Joe Berberick, all of Topeka, Larry Berberick, Athens, Ohio, and Jim Berberick, Lee's summut, Mo.; four daughters, Mary Ann Belden, Leavenworth, and Nancy Reeb, Marsha Bartley and Tressa Malecki, all of Topeka; a brother, William L. Berberick, Topeka; two sisters, Anna Williams, Kathleen, Ga., and Mary Corber, Topeka; 26 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Berberick will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, where a parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 312 Freeman, 66616. Brennan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
