Mr. Charlie Franklin Luke, 71, entered into rest at 8 40 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 1956, at a local infirmary after a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Marks Baptist Church by the Revs. Howard C. Scarboro and Leroy Harris will officiate. Interment will be in Pierce Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be R.C. Dennis, Melvin Lowe, Stead Weeks, K.C. Mauldin, J.I. Goodwin and Posey Goodwin. A farmer, Mr. Luke was born and reared in Richmond County. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Ethel Murphey Luke and the son of the late Elijah Frank and Virginia Reid Luke. Survivors include two sons, Charles Jackson and Alton E. Luke of Augusta; four brothers, F.J., W.D. and M.I. Luke of Augusta, and T.W. Luke of Evans; a sister, Mrs. Mary Virginia Phillips, and one grandchild. Elliott Sons.
