Mrs. Virginia Reid Luke, 85, widow of the late Elijah Frank Luke, entered into rest at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 1945, at her residence on 6 1/2 miles on Wrightsboro road. Funeral services will be held at Pierce Chapel Saturday at 4 p.m. The Rev. J P. McKinnon, assisted by the Rev. W.R. Turner and the Rev. Leroy Harris will officiate. Interment will be in Pierce Chapel cemetery. Pallbearers will be C.H. Camp, J.M. Martin, A.S. Haddlesay, Atis Smith, B.F. Flint and Ralph Maddox. Survivors are five sons, C.F., E.J., T.W., W.D., and M.I. Luke, all of Augusta; two daughters, Mrs. S.G. Boswell and Mrs. Mary V. Powell, both of Augusta; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; half sister, Mrs. Mary Beckum, Augusta, and a half-brother, Bob Buck.
