Earl as a small child grew up in Burkburnett Texas where his parents lived and died. His parents are Donald Cyrus and Omma Elizabeth (Bingham) Bruner. He left Texas as a young man and moved to Colton/San Bernardino area of California where he met the love of his life and married her in 1941 in Yuma Arizona. Earl then lived in San Bernardino/ Colton area with his wife for most of his adult life except for when he served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a combat engineer assigned to the 316th Engineer Battalion,91st Division, 5th U.S. Army, and was involved in the invasion of Africa and Italy. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant during the war. Early in his life he was a professional boxer and he loved the sport. He also became a licensed (with the State of Calif Athletic commission) boxing manager. Uncle Earl was a very bright articulate man and he became the consumate car salesman and quickly became a successful sales manager of several major auto dealerships in the San Bernardino/Colton area. He also loved thourghbred racing horses and he and his wife Ruth Elizabeth (LeFever) Bruner owned many winning race horses in their life. He was made an honorary Kentucky Colonel because of his extensive involvement in raising and owning many race horses.Uncle Earl's nickname was Dean or Deano. Even though he and Aunt Ruth never had any children of their own they treated their many neices and nephews as their own children and were adored by many of them including Cathy, Sharon, Darlyne,and myself.
