Roll out the red carpet. A King's child is coming home.

On Nov. 1, 2007, at 1:29 p.m., the Rev. Clarence Adkins, 88, of Ottawa, Boone County, departed this life to enter into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was the son of Alex and Leeanzie Moore Adkins and was born in Pike County, Ky.

He was a coalminer by trade. The Rev. Adkins preached the gospel of Jesus for over 60 years. He was a member of Monclo Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Marie Guy Adkins; one son, James Clarence; three brothers, Acie, Virgil and Curtis; and one sister, Eva Adkins Legg.

He is survived by two daughters, Marie and her husband, Richard Spratt, of Jessup, Md., and Linda Bias of Cleveland, Ohio; one son and caregiver, Paul David Adkins of Ottawa; granddaughter, Valerie Nicole Adkins of Ottawa; granddaughter, Leisha Kaye and husband, Keith Zickar, and great-grandsons, Keith Jr. and Justin, of Pasadena, Md.; grandson, Richard and wife, Debbie Spratt, one great-grandson, Brandon, of Baltimore, Md., and one great-granddaughter, Mellise; granddaughter, Mary Ann and husband, Runar Einarsoa, great-grandson, Travis, and great-granddaughter, Emily, of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandson, Kermit Bias Jr., and great-granddaughter, Elaina, of Cleveland, Ohio; and one brother, Thomas Adkins of Ohio.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Monclo Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Lane and Pastor Dr. Johnny Meade officiating. Burial will follow in Family Memorial Gardens, near Madison.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison.
