Last rites for Mr. Hawkins held here

Funeral services were held June 1 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel for James Clifford Hawkins, 68, retired farmer and carpenter. Rev. John A. Wade officiated.

Mr. Hawkins died at his home from an apparent heart attack last Tuesday morning.

Pallbearers were James M. Hawkins, Jr., James Riddell Evans, Charles Hawkins, Jimmie H. Hawkins, Wilburn Hawkins, and Wayne Adams.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William A. Middleton, Rayford Patterson, Coy Shackael, Burns Mitchell, Tony Kelly, Jimmy Kent, Red Austin, Ronald Barnhill, Homer Hawkins, and Howard Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins leaves his wife, Mrs. Mamie Mathews Hawkins; five sons, James Myrle Hawkins, Columbus; Paul Hawkins, Greenville; Ernest Hawkins and Gerald Hawkins, both of Greenwood; and Jimmy C. Hawkins, Yazoo City; four daughters, Mrs. Gernell Evans and Mellie Ann Goodson, both of Greenwood; Katrena Upton, Columbus; and Juanita Huffman, Winona; a brother, Lester Hawkins, Winona; and five sisters, Jessie Wooten, Alice Adams, and Eva Adams, all of Winona; Dorothy King, Ocean Springs, and Mary McClellan, Greenville.
