"Uncle Bob" (Milton Barbee) was born in Giles Co., TN to Tazwell and Eudora Russell Gilbert. His obituary, follows, but the first name of William is not correct.

L & N Employee Dies Here Friday Night

William (sic) Barbee Gilbert, well known employe of the L. & N., at this place, died after a brief illness at his home Friday night. Mr. Gilbert went home that night after he complained of feeling badly. After he reached there he told a member of his family to get his life insurance policy, that he wanted to look at it as he had only an hour longer to live. In 55 minutes the end came.

Funeral rites for the deceased were held at McConnell's chapel at four o'clock Sunday afternoon ither interment following in City cemetery. Services were conducted by Mr. Gilbert's pastor, Dr. B. T. Waites, with McConnell directing.

The deceased was 56 years of age, having been born at Prospect, Tenn., on Sept. 23, 1889. He came to Athens a number of years ago and had been a loyal employe of the L. & N. for a long time.

Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth. B. Gilbert; a son Bobby; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Thompson of Huntsville and Mrs. J. E. Sherrod of Decatur; four sisters, two brothers and one grandchild, with all of whom many friends sincerely sympathize.
