Rudolph Rains died peacefully at home on May 12, 2016. He was born on March 19, 1925 to Hugh and Arkie (King) Rains in Searcy County Arkansas. He went to school and lived near Nubbin Hill until WWII.

He served in the 32nd Infantry Division in the Pacific, where he earned three combat bronze stars and was awarded multiple Purple Heart medals for wounds which never left him. He married his wife of 63 years, Wilma Louise (Crow) Rains. They lived at Dennard where he was self employed as a farmer and logger. Together, they operated Bratton's Store for 34 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Ralph, Clifton and Mitchell and two sisters; Maureen Shaw and Marjorie Caid.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Louise Rains, two sons; Phillip (Bobbie) and Benjamin, two granddaughters, Autumn and Noelle Rains, his sister, Greba Shaw and his brother, Braxton Rains (Nellie), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He loved working on the farm, gardening, working in the woods and being his own boss. His mind, memory and wit were sharp until the end. He enjoyed visiting with friends, neighbors and family at the surprise birthday party held for him in March at Faith Baptist Church and at home until his death.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Saturday, May14, 2016 at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home.
