Michael (Mitchell) Rains, age 80, of Leslie, Arkansas, passed from this life October 02, 2014.
He was born July 19, 1934 in Leslie to parents Hugh and Arkie (King) Rains.
After retiring from the United States Air Force, he worked as a mechanic and later in maintenance as a Fire Marshall for Gusdorf, in Missouri. He was active in the NRA and VFW in Rayville, Missouri.
Mitchell was a man of political and constitutional convictions, and an advocate! To his “Sherrie-belle”, aka Sheryl, he was her hero-“Rifleman” (the TV show) and her favorite crotchety old man. To his “Missy” , aka Michelle, he was her rock! Throughout her whole life, he was all she really had to lean on. He was loved and will be missed by many.
Mitchell is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are: two daughters: Sheryl Cossey of Leslie and Michelle Sedovic of St. Louis, MO; one sister: Greeba Shaw of Cuba, MO.; two brothers: Braxton Rains of Leslie and Rudolph Rains of Dennard, AR.; and four granddaughters and ten great- grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Leslie Community Center in Leslie, Arkansas.
