Tony Eugene Whitesides, 60, of Phenix City, AL passed away January 6, 2021.
He was born August 3, 1960, in Gaston County, a son of Mary Stephens Whitesides and the late Larry Eugene Whitesides.
In addition to his mother, Tony is survived by his wife of 31 years, Christy Whitesides of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Tera Connors, and husband, Nick of Linwood, NC; son, Jared Slaton of Phenix City, AL; brother, Terry Whitesides, and wife, Dana of Kings Mountain; sister, Tammy Whitesides Sossamon and husband, Tommy of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Cruz and Nash Connors; and many others who loved him dearly.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tonya Whitesides Ewing.
The family will receive friends at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 14, 2021, in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors. Committal will follow at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia is serving the Whitesides family.
