Helen Joan "Jo" Callahan, 90, of Pekin, formerly of Tremont, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
She was born December 29, 1931 in Bloomington to Adam William and Edith Anna Riggs Rapp. She married Raymond P. Callahan on June 10, 1950 in Tremont, and he passed away October 26, 2001.
Surviving are one son, Alan (Paula) Callahan of Pekin; three grandchildren, Ryan (Lori) Cargill, Tara DeFazio, and Cory Cargill, all of Pekin; four great grandchildren, Anthony DeFazio, Ryan Cargill, Jr., Dylan Newcomb, Hunter (Hunter) Cargill; two great great grandchildren, Aurora Koller and Felix Newcomb; one brother, Joseph D. (Nancy) Rapp of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Tom, Glen, and Jim; one infant brother, Marion; and four sisters, Betty, June, Mary, and Ruth.
Jo was a member of the Tremont United Methodist Church, where she served at custodian for 26 years. She also cleaned houses in the area for many years.
Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be at 11:00 am Friday, August 12, 2022 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont. Pastor Larry Frank will officiate. There will be no visitation. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
