Abilene, Texas - Erick was born in Germantown, Ohio on December 2, 1935, to Alpha and Eva Dennis. His mother died when he was 3 years old. His father, Alpha, with his two sons, returned to live with his parents - Elizabeth and J.W. Dennis - who wrote the song "I'll Be A Friend to Jesus." They lived in Erick, Oklahoma.

Erick had one brother (Albert) and 3 half-sisters - Myrna Kelly, Ethel Rench and Opal Bennison. His half-sisters stayed in Ohio with their mother's relatives. Erick attended school in Erick, Oklahoma for all of his school years and graduated in 1954. In the fall of 1954 Erick went to Central Christian College (CCC), now Oklahoma Christian University. He met his future wife, Sally Williams at CCC. Erick and Sally became engaged in the spring of l956. Erick married Sally in her home town - San Antonio, Texas on December 31, 1956

Erick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sally of the home; 5 children: Cindy Thomas - her husband Morris and 5 children Nathan, Nicholas, Matt, Amanda - her husband Grant Wisner and 2 children: Kaylee and Kaydence, Meagan - her daughter Ann Marie; Kevin Dennis - his wife Beth and 2 children: Kent and Erica; Susan Placencia - her husband Joe and 3 children: David, Adam and Rachelle; David Dennis - his wife Cindi and 3 children: Ashley, Courtney, and Colton; Bruce Dennis - his wife Janice; his 3 half sister and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Eva (1939), his father Alpha (1966), his son Brian (1988) his brother, Albert (1992).

Erick was a successful computer engineer, retiring in 1996. He was much loved for his special joy in doing things with his family. He liked to take his children on many traveling experiences in America. Erick loved watching his children in all their activities and he supported them 100 percent. The grandchildren also have wonderful memories of Grandpa sharing his wisdom and taking them on trips, and watching their activities. And above all Erick had spiritual hopes and dreams for his children and grandchildren to meet him and those that preceded him on the other side with Jesus.

The viewing will be at Community Memorial Funeral Home at 1443 North 2nd Abilene, TX, 79601, on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Highland Church of Christ in Abilene with Jack Hill officiating assisted by Joe Placencia. The burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories 5701 Hwy 277 South. Flowers will be accepted at Community Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial gifts to Hendrick Hospice of Abilene will be appreciated. The family especially wants to thank Becky Pliml and Beth Reeves for their special care and unending love.
