Opal was born February 26, 1927 in Preble County, Ohio to Homer Priddy and Eva Holman.

1880: Opal's father, Homer Wilson Priddy and his twin, Arthur Priddy, were born February 11 in New Manchester, Darke County, Ohio to a farmer Darius H. Priddy and his wife, Sarah Howell.

1899: Opal's mother, Eva Gladys Holman, was born November 17 in West Alexandria, Preble County, Ohio to Noah Webster Holman and Louisa Ludy.

1924: Opal's husband, Arthur Bennison was born August 27 in Ryerson County, Ontario, Canada to Charles S. Bennison and Della M. First.

Albert and Erick were the sons of Eva and her second husband, Alpha Dennis.

The family had fallen on hard times Homer apparently had several health issues. He was a patient at the Dayton State Hospital, which was originally the Southern Ohio Lunatic Asylum.

Eva was living on Plum Street in Germantown. She was the housekeeper for a local merchant and his wife, Robert and Virginia Weaver and their 22 year-old son, Robert V. Weaver.

Opal and her sisters were placed in the Preble County Children's home on New Paris road in Eaton. This was probably a temporary arrangement until the family could get back on its feet.

Opal's mother, Eva, and her future husband, Alpha Dennis, a WWI veteran from Missouri, had a son, Albert Isaac Dennis. Mr. Dennis was a WWI veteran. Two years before, he was patient at the National Military Home in Dayton, Ohio. It is now the location of the Dayton VA Hospital.

December of 1933:

Opal's father, Homer, passed away at the Miami Valley Hospital from a variety of illnesses, the primary cause - chronic heart failure. Homer is buried at the Brown Cemetery in West Manchester, Preble County, Ohio. Homer's parents and several other family members are buried at cemetery.

1934: Opal's mother and Albert's father, Alpha Dennis married on December 3.

1935: Eva and Alpha had their second son, Erick A. Dennis in December 2.

1938: Eva passed away after a tumor in her breast metastasized. She ultimately died of lung cancer on December 29.

Alpha took Opal's step-brothers to live with his parents in Erick, Nebraska. Opal and her sisters were left behind in Ohio to be cared for by her mother's family.

Opal's uncle, Joseph Holman and his wife, Ella Catherine Purnhagen cared for Myrna. They were living in Dayton, Ohio at the time.

Opal was taken to Troy, OH to be cared for by her aunt, Laura Holman and husband, Jacob Keihl.

It is not known who fostered Ethyl, however her obituary mentions that she was taken in by a relative in Troy, which is where many of Opal's aunts and uncles were living at the time.

January 1952: Opal married Arthur E. Bennison on January 9, 1952 in Franklin, Ohio.

Arthur was born on August 27, 1924 in Ryerson County, Ontario, Canada to Charles S. Bennison and Della M. First. Arthur passed away in January of 2008.

Opal and Arthur had six children:

Opal Marie Bennison Battle Creek

Opal Marie Bennison passed away February 25, 2010 at The Oaks at Northpoint Woods in Battle Creek. Opal was born February 26, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of Homer and Eva Priddy.

She was one of five children, having two sisters and two brothers.

Arthur, her husband of 56 years passed away in January 2008.

Survivors are their six children: Linda (Tim) Cook of Battle Creek, James (Mary) Bennison of Kalamazoo, John (Tong) Bennison of Richland, Bruce Bennison of Battle Creek, Debra Contreras of Indiana and Steve Bennison of Albion. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Opal and Arthur were members of the Rayborn Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church in Coldwater.

Opal spent most of her life caring for others at hospitals, nursing homes, and private homes as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed her family, friends, flowers, making crafts and fixing meals for anyone that came to visit.

She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was always known for her kind and generous heart and would give anything she had to someone in need. The family would like to thank the staff of The Oaks for the many years of care and kindness during Opal's stay there. Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Services will held on March 1, 2010 at 12:00 Noon with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home with Pastor Douglas Carlson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rayborn Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church in Coldwater.
