"On Tuesday two men from Westbury came here to get a certificate and burial permit from Town Clerk R. H. Kelly for the death of Benjamin H. Grandy, which occurred on Monday at the home of his son William in the southeastern part of this township. Mr. Kelly told them they would have to go to a physician to get a certificate, so they sought out Dr. J. N. Robertson. The latter had not attended Mr. Grandy within four months, so he declined to issue a certificate. Accordingly Coroner R. H. Watkins had to go to Westbury to inspect the body, which he did yesterday afternoon, though there was little doubt that consumption was the cause of death. Mr, Grandy, who was about 75 years of age, had been dying by inches from this disease for several years. He made his home with his sister, Mrs. Abram Chase of Auburn Street, Wolcott, but about two weeks ago his son came for him and he was able to ride to the latter's home."
