Mrs. Jimmie Jean Adams Tarver, age 89 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
She was born Sunday, August 16, 1931 in Gaar's Mill, Louisiana, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield and also attended Zion Baptist Church with her family. Mrs. Tarver was a member of the Home Demonstration Club where she was known as the "dumpling queen". She was also known for her Popcorn Balls at Halloween and her Peanut Brittle during the Christmas holidays. She loved fishing, working in her flower gardens and bird watching from her back porch.
Mrs. Tarver was preceded in death by her parents, William Troy Adams and Ollie Victory Sikes Adams, husband of 67 years James Tarver, and her six siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Doug Tarver, Teri Wright (Don), and Penny Tarver,
grandchildren Josh Hemphill, Miranda Davis (James), Rachel Smith (Ralph), and Sara Bebe (Taylor),
9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great Grandchildren, and her brother Duane Adams (Donna).
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday April 7, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and also on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Southern Funeral Home with Reverends Don Wright and Scott Tilton officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, in Winnfield.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jr. Smith, James Davis, Josh Hemphill, Taylor Beebe, Nathan Vines, and Chris Theriot.
Bobby Tarver, Lamar Tarver, Eli Smith, and Ethan Vines will serve as honorary pallbearers.
