Born Erik Axel Löwenborg in Sweden, Eric was the son of Emil Conrad Lowenburg (1875-1930) and Anna Elizabeth Lowenburg (1869-1918). He came to the United States in 1906 with his parents and siblings. On the 30 November 1920, Eric enlisted in the U.S. Army at the rank of Private. He served until the 23 July 1921. After his service in the Army, Eric married Grace.
