John Edward "Snarepole" Greenwell, 70, Lebanon, died Oct. 16, 2007, at his residence.

Greenwell was born May 16, 1937, in Marion County. He was preceded in death by: his father, Joseph Leo Greenwell; mother, Mary Elizabeth Mattingly Greenwell; two sisters, Lyla Cahoe and Viola Seward Hagan; and three brothers, Joseph Lee, William Francis and Joseph Earl Greenwell. Survivors include: a sister, Ruth Adams of Bardstown; and a brother, Arthur Greenwell of Lebanon.

Funeral services were held Oct.18 at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with burial in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle officiated. Pallbearers were Robbie Shofner, Gerald Seward, Chad, Josh and Steven Dant and Joe Greenwell. Mattingly Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

John Edward "Snarepole" Greenwell, 70, Lebanon, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at his residence. He was born May 16, 1937, in Marion County. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Leo Greenwell; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Mattingly Greenwell; two sisters, Lyla Cahoe and Viola Seward Hagan; and three brothers, Joseph Lee Greenwell, William Francis Greenwell and Joseph Earl Greenwell.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth Adams, Bardstown; a brother, Arthur Greenwell, Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, with burial in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will officiate. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
