Obituary for Norma Jean Mill
Our beloved Mom, Grammy, Norma Jean (Baum) Mill, passed away on March 11, 2021 and is now back with the love of her life, her husband of 57 years, Gene. Norma was born on December 27, 1936 in Eaton, Colorado. She thoroughly enjoyed her growing up years, especially all of the shenanigans with her seven brothers and sisters.

At the young age of 17, she met Gene and their love story began. They have two sons Alan (Jeri) of Tennessee, and Kurt (Cyndi) of Colorado. The boys gave them 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; she loved every one of them and always wanted to know what they were up to.

Norma and Gene loved spending time with their family and many friends, whether it was bowling, golfing, playing games, camping, or just chatting over coffee. They enjoyed traveling, especially their winter excursions to Arizona and Texas, and family trips to Hawaii as well as a Caribbean cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Throughout their lives, they never knew a stranger and all were touched by their kindness.

Norma was a gifted seamstress and needle worker, but her true passion was quilting. There was not a holiday, celebration, or event that wasn’t documented by a quilt; she blessed so many with her talented hands. When she wasn’t with her quilting buddies, she was active with her CSU Extension Club with whom she shared many memories. With her lively social life, it is difficult to imagine her having time to work outside the home, but she did. She brought her skill and charm to insurance companies, school libraries, to CSU, and to numerous non-profit organizations; Norma always wanted to help people.

Norma was preceded in death by Gene, all of her siblings, and grandson, Patrick. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. As Norma wrote to all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in her final Christmas letter, “Know that I love you all and thank you for the gift of having you in my life.” We all feel the same way about you! Thank you for all the love and joy you showered upon us - you will be deeply missed!

If you wish to donate in her memory, please consider The Larimer County Humane Society, The Donor Alliance of Colorado, or The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
