Charles Mathews Dies at Age 63
After an extended period of ill health, Charles K. Mathews, 63, died Tuesday at 1:50 p. m., at his home, 33 Missouri avenue. He had been a resident of Alton for the past four years, A native of Walkervllle, he was born May 20, 1877. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Bert Allsman, Mrs. John Richardson, Miss Bridget Mathews and Miss Pauline Mathews, all of Alton, and Mrs. Louis Sucech and Miss Sadie Mathews of Chicago, and four sons, Arthur and Fines of White Hall and Riley and Charles of Alton. He also leaves a brother, William of White Hall, and two sisters, Mrs. Claude England, White Hall, and Mrs. Charles McClain, Alton, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p. m., at the residence, Burial will be at White Hall. The body will be moved from Klunk funeral home to the residence at 4 p. m., today, where friends may call.

Charles Mathews Buried In Whitehall Cemetery
The funeral of Charles Mathews, 63, who died Tuesday, was held Thursday at 1 p. m., from his late residence, 33 Missouri avenue, with the Rev, P. L. Goodman of the Church of God officiating. Following services hero the body was taken to White Hell for Interment In White Hall cemetery. Soloist at the rites was Mrs. Mary Kirkpatrlck, who sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus." Lloyd Fry, Arthur Allsmnn, Edward Morgan, Andrew Stewart, sr., Charles Weiisel and Otis Roady were pallbearers.
