BENLD - Addle Allsman Mitchell, 71, formerly of Alton, died at 6:50 a.m. Thursday at Staunton Community Memorial Hospital after a five week illness.

She was formerly employed as an inspector in the packing department of Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for 17 years. She retired in 1976 from Tootsie Roll Co. in Chicago.

Born in White Hall, daughter of the late, Charles and Mary (Burrs) Matthews, she married Bert Allsman who preceded her in death in 1955. She later married Robert Mitchell and he died in 1977.

She is survived by three daughters, Mildred Rippee of Granite City, Evelyn Porter and Bobbie Lafferty, both of Alton; two sons, Joseph Allsman of Kingman, Ariz., and Jacob Allsman of East Alton; a stepson, Guy Mitchell of Chicago; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Alice Richardson of Cottage Hills, Sadie Cole of Texas and Mary Sucech of Benld.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Landers & Williamson Funeral Home in Benld.

Visitation will continue from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home in Alton and services will be inducted at the Alton funeral home at l p.m Monday with the Rev. Joseph Cusic officiating.

Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery.

The Heart Association has been suggested as a memorial.
