William M. Brashear, 80, died Tuesday evening, March 11, 1997 at his residence. Born September 7, 1916 in Viper, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Marion H. and Lillie Watts Brashear. He was a retired teacher from Eastern Kentucky, Rose Hill, and the Mercer County school systems, having taught for 26 years. He was a member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher of the Burgin Baptist Church. Survivors include: one daughter, Etha Brashear Lollis, St. John, IN; six brothers, Eli Brashear, Newport News, VA, Elmer Brashear, Winchester, Corbett Brashear, Viper, Adrian "Joe" Brashear, Hazard, Taylor Brashear, Hamilton, OH and Mark Brashear, Middletown, OH; three sisters, Velora Profitt, Lexington, Claudine Ferguson, Burgin, Elizabeth Evans, North Vernon, IN; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Margaret McElhannon Brashear, one son, Russell Brashear, and a daughter, Elzurah Semone. Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 14 at the Burgin Baptist Church by Rev. Joseph Vest. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.
