Services for Charley Castles were held in Anson Methodist Church. The church building was filled beyond its capacity to take care to those who came, from Anson, from surrounding communities and towns and especially from Albany, to pay their last respects to Charles. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Sid G. Castles, both of his parents being of pioneer Jones County families. His grandfather was a county official in the early 1900s and his grandfather on his mother's side was Commodore Perry "Dick" Davis, the founder of The Texas Western, Jones County's first newspaper. After graduating from Anson High School, he attended Texas Christian University. He took a place in the Anson State Bank, six years later, he went to work for Albany State Bank, and later for the First National Bank which had taken over that institution. During this period, he returned to Anson for a year's work in the Anson State Bank. Survived by his parents; his grandmother - Mrs. C.D. Davis; two sisters - Miss Louise Castles, Miss Dorothy Castles; three brothers - George, Sid, Jr., and Jack Castles. Charlie had been a member of the Methodist Church for years. He was active in civic affairs, and secretary of the Albany Lions Club at his death. He had a bright mind, good personality. The past five years, most of his life had been spent in Albany, where he had become a vital part of the business life of the community.
