Samuel W. Strunk, 77, of Bedford, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at his residence.
Born July 12, 1943, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Elmer and Zina (Hughes) Strunk. He married Virginia Sue Canada on April 15, 1967, and she survives. He retired as a diesel mechanic after thirty years at General Motors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of U.A.W. Local #440. He attended Highview Baptist Church and loved gardening and spending time with his grandkids and family.
Survivors include his wife, Sue, of Bedford; a son, Stacy Strunk, of Springville; four grandchildren, Sami and Daxx Strunk, Coy and Chloe McKnight; a sister, Donna Faye Stigall, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Elmer, Jr., and Rick Strunk; a sister, Teresa Webb.
Per Sam’s request, cremation was chosen. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th in the Patton Hill Cemetery with Pastors Danny Goens and Harold Godsey officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33
American Legion.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to Highview Baptist Church, Burgoon Baptist Church, or the American Cancer
