Elmer "Coon" Strunk, 79, of Bedford, died at 7:24 am on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his residence.
Born August 4, 1936 in Bedford, he was the son of Elmer Strunk, Sr and Zina Mae (Hughes) Strunk. He married Martha Ann Payton on May 10, 1997 and she survives. He was a dragline operator for Reeds Quarry of Bloomington. He as a member of Hilltop Pentecostal Church and a former member of Peerless Pentecostal Church. He was a member of National Laborers Union Local #741 and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Martha of Bedford and a son, James Elmer Strunk of Patton Hill; three daughters, Kelly Boruff and husband Jeff of Patton Hill, Leana Strunk of Plant City, FL, Sherri Cross and husband David of Martinsville, a step-son, David Ramsey and wife Debby of Sullivan, IN, a step-daughter, Joy Easton and husband, Kevin of Oolitic. He was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Joyce New Strunk, a brother, Rick Strunk and a sister, Teresa Webb.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, April 1, 2016 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day and Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery.
