Stella Veona Wooley, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away September 3, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Pasco, Washington, at the age of 93. Stella was born February 14, 1921. She was the second of 11 children born to William and Martha McCurdy in Vernal, UT. She married Arlo A. Wooley July 17, 1939, in Vernal, Utah. They had 5 children.
Stella was always a hard worker and was owner of the notorious Out West Bar & Cafe in Rifle, Colorado, for around 30 years. She loved traveling, camping, fishing and hunting. She also loved riding her 4 wheeler and wave runner. She cherished doing anything in the outdoors with all of her family, earning her the name of “Granny Go Go.” She loved to crochet and made numerous hooked rugs. We will always love and remember her.
She is survived by her children, Gwen (Lester) Wilson, Pasco, WA; Leon (Jennifer) Wooley, Rifle, CO; Connie (Bill) Bankster, Grand Junction, CO; Arloa (Chuck) White, Stansbury Park, UT; one sister, Nial Richens, Gusher, UT; Grandchildren: Ricky Ray White, Arla Rae Liebmann, Ann Marie Brotzen, Amanda Marie Harris, Benny Jo Bankster, William Walter Bankster III, Joshua Bo Wooley, Justin Gabriel Wooley, Loni Lyn Young, Geral Arlo Wilson, Shari Jean Wilson; great-grandchildren: Kimberly Clary, Brad Gardner, Crystal Gardner, Stephanie White, Ricky White, Hayley McGlynn, Stella Harris, William Bankster IV, Nicole Bankster, Samantha Bankster, Kole Denevan, Tayler Denevan, Henry Young, Flynn Young, Gareth Young, Pierce Wilson, Dezeray Wilson and Mark Mitchell; and great-great-grandchildren: Braelyn and Korbin Clary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo, in 1973, her son, Arthur, in 2008, parents and 9 siblings.
Memorial services will be held September 14, 2014, at Metro Pavilion at 1718 Railroad Ave. next to the city swimming pool in Rifle, Colorado.
Internment will be in the Vernal Utah - Rock Point Cemetery at a later date.
