He was born in Washington county, Tenn., March 28, 1870. He farmed in the Oakley and Cerro Gordo area 50 years, retiring in 1941.
He married Amanda Boyd who died in 1933. In 1938, he married Mrs. Alice Haines in St. Louis, Mo.
Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Mrs. J. K. Hite and Mrs. E. L. McVitty of Oakley, Mrs. E. G. Clarkson of Cerro Gordo and Mrs. Ira Bowers of Decatur; two sons, Dewey of Hammond and John K. of Oakley; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Sarah Jane Ferguson of Decatur; one stepson, J. M. Haines of Decatur; one sister, Mrs. Etta Mathews of Hicksville, Ohio; four brothers, Charles of Kingsport, Tenn., Joe of Cerro Gordo and Harvey and George of Oakley; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The body is in the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home. Arrangement are incomplete.
