Mr. Blanton retired from Hoechst Celanese Corporation where he was a machine operator and was also a Dairy Farmer. Hewas a member of Lavonia Baptist Church where he was a former choir member, deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1937 and from Gardner-Webb College in 1939. Mr. Blanton served in the U.S.Army, WWII, with the 100th. Infantry Company C, 325th Engineers Combat Battalion, where he received the American Theater Service Medal, EAME Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal & the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a member of the American Legion. The family would like to express their thanks to his nieces, nephews and special friends for their caregiving.
Mr. Blanton's parents were the late William Cliffton & Cora Jane Royster Blanton and he was also preceeded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Blanton is his wife of 52 years Lela Hamrick Blanton of the home, two daughter's and their husband's Rhonda & Larry Voss of Concord, Renee & Randy Walker of Boiling Springs, two sisters; Hannah Deaton & Margorie Hamilton of Boiling Springs, and a granddaughter Carla Ruth Lytle-Hendrix.
