James D. Adams was born Sep 6, 1893 in Harrison County, Kentucky to parents Dr. James B. Adams (1861-1908), and Elizabeth Durbin (1869-1927), both born in Kentucky.

James was the second child in a family of four boys. His brothers were: Cleon B. Adams (1891-1965), Vernon Adams (1896-1977), and Wilson "Bobby" Adams (1899-1921), all born in Kentucky.

After his father Dr. James Adams died in 1908 the family remained in Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky.
In 1917, James was listed working as a teamster in Harrison County. In 1920, he is listed as a automobile chauffeur. In 1930, James was listed as a horse trainer.

Tragically, James was hit by an automobile May 26, 1938 in Covington, Kentucky and died of his injuries from the accident.

His brothers Vernon and Cleon were the informants on his death certificate and burial was listed for Battle Grove Cemetery in Cythiana, Kentucky where numerous other family members were buried. Upon requesting a photo of the headstone a volunteer reported that none was found in the section listed by the cemetery office. Though it is possible, this family is not known to have NOT to put headstones on their family members. I think somewhere there is an error.
