James and Elizabeth settled in Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky, where he opened his dentist office, and they had four sons: Cleon B. Adams (1891-1965), James D. Adams (1893-1938), Vernon Adams (1896-1977), and Wilson Adams (1899-1921), all born in Harrison County.
Elizabeth remained in Cythiana with her four sons after her husband died in 1908. She died Dec 19, 1927, in Harrison County, Kentucky. Both Elizabeth and James are buried in Battle Grove Cemetery.
