Tess M. Guggemos, age 89, of Winsted, died Saturday January 9, 2021 at the Gardens at Winsted (formerly St. Mary’s Care Center).

Tess was born on November 9, 1931, in Maple Lake, to Joseph and Albina (Morin) Antil. She grew up on the south side of Lake Ramsey with six brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1949. She met her husband Harold at a dance at the Waverly Village Hall. They were married April 3rd, 1951 at Saint Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. They were married 68 years before Harold’s death in 2019. Tess had six children. She was a loving mother and she was friendly and good-natured.

Tess enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She worked for the Winsted Coffee Shop, the Winsted Telephone Company, Dueber’s Department Store and Littfin Lumber Co. She liked to travel to visit family and for sightseeing. She liked music and enjoyed many bus trips with friends to Branson, MO. She greatly enjoyed lunch dates, especially at Carlson’s apple orchard for lunch and to purchase apples. Tess volunteered at St. Mary’s Care Center and treasured visiting with and playing cards with the residents. She resided at the Gardens at Winsted for the past 24 months where she received very compassionate care.

Tess was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents Albina (Morin) and Joseph Antil, her 6 brothers, Vic, Jim, Art, Larry, Jerry, and Frank, and her 2 sisters, Ursula (Sue) Perra and Beatrice (Bea) Gagnon, daughter-in-law Dawn (Landin) Guggemos and grandchild Mark Thomas Aune. She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Patrick) Murphy of Tullahoma, TN, Joel (Debbie) of Winsted, Mark (Mary) of Hutchinson, Mike of Winsted, Joanne (Clyde) Aune of Bellevue, NE and Tom of Winsted, 14 grandchildren Michael Murphy, James Murphy, Jon Murphy, Ian Murphy, Emily Albrecht, April Baird, Christopher Guggemos, Meghan Guggemos, James Rathbun, Julie Prokosch, Chrissie Guggemos Walczak, Kellie Guggemos, Chad Aune and Jason Aune and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law Art Guggemos of Winsted, sisters-in-law Jean Antil of Bismarck, ND and Helen Guggemos of Hutchinson, and many nephews and nieces.

A Mass and an internment will be held at a future date at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Cemetery in Winsted.
