Amelie "Emily" Babineaux Ancelet, 88, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette. Born in Cade, Louisiana on April 9, 1919, Emily was a resident of Lafayette for 50 years. Mrs. Ancelet was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Community, however enjoyed walking to Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel to attend Mass, which was near her home. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting bees, and talking to everyone. She also enjoyed listening to the Cajun Music of Les Freres Michot and other local musicians, rooting for the Atlanta Braves, and watching the Price is Right.

Survivors include her two sons, Raywood J. Viator and his wife Catherine Joyce Terradot Viator of New Iberia, Michael J. Ancelet and his wife, Kathy Broussard Ancelet of Lafayette; one daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Ancelet Jobe and her husband, Clifford E. Jobe, Jr. of Lafayette; ten grandchildren, Cassie Jobe Thibodeaux and her husband, Ryan, Carrie Jobe Curelariu and her husband, Marius, Caitlin Jobe, Callie Jobe, Robby Ancelet, Susan Ancelet Sonnier, Brad Ancelet, Bret Viator, and his wife, Diana Romero Viator, Catherine Ray "Kit" Viator Delcambre and her husband, Troy Delcambre, Marya Yvette Viator Welker and her husband, Marlon; nine great grandchildren, Michael W. Ancelet, Macy Ancelet, Blain Sonnier, Cheyne Opellia, Colton Opellia, Keegan Welker, Kyler Welker, Sierra Welker, and Cheyla Welker; one brother Clarence A. Babineaux of Coteau; and three sisters, Donatile "Dot" B. Dautreuil, Rose B. Migues, and Mary B. Dautreuil and her husband, Howard all of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Philias Viator and two infant children, Donald James Viator and Mary Louisa Viator of that marriage; her second husband Lenis "Te-Na" Ancelet; her parents, Adoloska Romero Babineaux and Alcee Babineaux; two brothers, Frederick and Francis Babineaux; and one sister Yolande Babineaux Viator.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to those who have assisted our mother over the last ten years of her life: Dr. Kemp Coreil and his wonderful staff for their loving care and patience; Sara Caesar who tended to Mama's personal weekly needs and whom she "loved and trusted as a daughter"; Martha Victor for her aid and weekly assistance; the staff of Concepts of Care Home Health, the staff of Southwest Medical Center; and to Becky Jeanmard and Diana Viator for their physical, mental, and moral support to the family in Mama's last days.
