Hutchinson - R. Larry Lambert, 82, died December 25, 2020 at Good Samaritan Home, Hutchinson, KS. He was born July 16, 1938 in Hutchinson, KS, to Lawrence A., Sr. and Emmaline (Welch) Lambert, of Pretty Prairie, KS.
Larry lost his hearing at age 3 ½ due to illness. He attended Jane Brooks School for the Deaf in Purcell then Chickasha, Oklahoma until the 8th grade. They recognized his art ability and took him to Oklahoma University for art lessons. The Lambert family moved to Leoti, KS in 1947 where his parents farmed and ranched. Larry graduated from Wichita County Community High School in 1958. He graduated from the Denver Institute of Art in 1962. He worked as a commercial artist in Boulder, CO; Wichita, KS. and Hutchinson, KS. Larry was a self – taught artist in watercolors and acrylics. He took his art work to many art fairs in Kansas, Kansas State Fair and surrounding states. He won numerous awards and was a member of the Kansas Watercolor Society. Bob Dole bought one of his Kansas scenes. Larry was a well-known professional artist.
Larry accepted Christ as his Savior in 1970. He painted many religious paintings. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Leoti. Larry moved from Leoti to Hutchinson after the death of his mother, in 2005. He helped take care of his father, Lawrence Lambert, Sr. until his death in 2010. Larry continued to paint and attend art shows in the area. He retired in 2015. He moved to Good Samaritan Home in the fall of 2016 where he lived until his death.
Larry's survivors include: Brother, Rev. Lawrence (Butch) Lambert, Jr. (Linda) Marion, KS. Sisters, Emma Jean Lambert, Plains, MT., Sherra Brigman (Dean) Hutchinson, KS. Four nephews: Greg Edmisson (Julie) Johnson, KS; Rob Edmisson (Gina) St. Joseph, MO; Ted Seaman, Plains, MT; Ben Lambert (Kelly) Salem, OR; and niece, Lanissa Hammond(Chris), Marion, KS. Twelve great-nieces and nephews and six great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great-nephew, Corbin Dean Edmisson.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Praying Hands Section, with Pastor Jeff Arnold, Chaplain of Good Samaritan Home, presiding. (Please wear a mask and social distance)
