He was a native of Cherokee County, NC. He was employed as a dozer operator with West Construction Company and was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and was of the Baptist faith. He was the son of Lucy Queen Rogers of Marble, and the late Homer Aster Rogers Sr., and was preceded in death by a brother Homer Rogers, Jr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Stella Turpin Rogers, three sons, William Kyle Rogers Jr. of Roswell, GA, David Rogers and Mark Rogers both of Marble; a daughter, Sharon Sweet of Summerville, GA; three brothers, Kenneth Rogers and Glenn Rogers both of Marble, and Jimmy Rogers of Andrews, NC; four sisters, Luana Adams, Doris Adams and Joyce McColley all of Marble, and Margie Creason of Andrews; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28, 1997 at the Townson Rose Chapel in Andrews. The Rev. Parker Burgess and the Rev. Homer Wilson officiated. Burial in Valleytown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Wilson, Kenny Rogers, Bill Mulkey, Scott Deaton, Jerry McColley, Doug Moore and Jim McClure. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Lambert and Wallace Rogers.
