Agnes Ruth Swinford, 90, of Greenfield, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at Beverly Living Center.

Born May 27, 1916 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Angeline (Vannatta) Barnard, both deceased. She married Dale Newman and was married to Vora Swinford July 19, 1952; he preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1985.

Mrs. Swinford lived most of her life in Rush County, moving to Greenfield in 1999. A homemaker, she attended First Pentecostal Church (now Family Worship Center) in Rushville.

Survivors include one son, Charles Newman (and wife Barbara) of Rushville; one daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Dale) Bills of Greenfield; one brother, Wilbur Barnard of Rushville; one sister, Mable Lee of Rushville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parent and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and one infant daughter.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rushville's East Hill Cemetery with Dr. Dennis Bowman officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the cemetery.
