Charles D. Newman, 75, a life long Rushville area resident, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 14, 2022. He was born May 1, 1947 in Rushville to Dale Newman & Agnes (Barnard) Swinford. Charlie was a 1965 graduate of Rushville High School and served in the US Army Reserves. He married Barbara Bulmer on August 21, 1971 and she survives.
Charlie worked as a press operator for Roots Dresser in Connersville for 25 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Connersville where he taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. Charlie had actually read the Bible 16 times. He was a scholar of the Bible and had the ability of quoting and locating its contents. Charlie loved to go fishing & enjoyed spending time with his family!
He will be missed by his wife; Barbara, of Rushville, his sons; Justin (Beth Sizemore) Newman of Indianapolis and Jamicin (Dande Ward) Newman of Shelbyville, his daughter; Jessica Charlene Newman of Brookville, his grandchildren; Brittany & Colten Boone, Savannah Maple, Josie & Jake Newman and Brittany Snyder and his great grandchildren; Lilliana, Tristan & Isaac Boone, Ivory Best, Joshua, Hailey, Brooklyn, & Kyle Maple, Jr. Charlie also loved his fur baby; Spanky! He was preceded in death by his parents and step-dad; Vora "Red" Swinford, sisters; Phyllis (Dale) Bills and infant Ruth Ellen Newman.
Services will be held at 1 PM Monday, July 18, 2022 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Robert Ward presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family form 2-5 PM Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the mortuary in Rushville. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.
