He was united in married to Olive Wilhite, Oct 3, 1878. To this union nine children were born: Lola Williams, Lester May, Hattie Johnson, Homer May, Jim May, Alda Clark, Etha Moberly, Austin and Orva May. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, nine children, 22 grand children, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Jim and Will, two sisters, Neal and Sis, besides many friends.
Uncle John had been a patient sufferer for many years and before closing his eyes in silent slumber expressed a desire and willingness to go home and be at rest. The family extends thanks to all who so kindly helped administer during his last illness. (Milan Republican, 1 Jul 1926)
