Catherine was born on Key Peninsula. The February 1878 territorial census for Pierce County shows her age as 3-years-old. If her birthday was March 30, 1875 it would suggest she was actually 2 years and 11 months at that time. The 1880 Federal Census done in June lists her as 5-years-old, also consistent with an 1875 birth. The March 1883 territorial census lists her as 8, the 1887 census lists her as 12, and the 1889 lists her as 14, all consistent with an 1875 birth.

In the mid-1890s she is living in the household of Frank Crawford, her brother-in-law (husband of sister Ida), in the city of Seattle at 7th and Olive. She is listed at the time as a student.

First marriage was to a man named Edward George. Edward's identity has been confirmed, but no marriage record has been found. A November of 1898 news article from Adrian, Minnesota indicates that the marriage occurred 2 years prior, so likely in late 1896 or early 1897. Edward George died of appendicitis in 1905.

The license for Kitty's marriage to Frank Deering/Duerhing indicates she is 28 years old on 22 Aug 1906 and is widowed and works as a nurse. Her actual age would have been 31. Address for both listed as 121 Garfield Pl...although it does not say, this is likely in Cincinnati. The marriage to Frank R. Deering, 40 years old, on 22 Aug 1906, occurred in Hamilton County, Ohio. Deering is listed as a Newspaper man, born in Wisconsin, Parents Fred Deering and Marie (Keller or Heller) Deering.

At some point Kitty returned to Seattle where she died in 1909 from cancer at the home/hospital run by her sister Ida. None of the death records show an actual birthdate. She was apparently still married to Deering/Duerhing as the article about her death stated he was notified back east, presumably in Ohio, and that he would be traveling to Seattle.
