Husband to Catherine C and son of Flora E George, it may be Flora Ann ( McKee ) George b. 1837 New York, his father was Thomas George , m. 11 January 1854 , Jackson, Wisconsin. Census may have record of him as Edmund J George. Previous record suggests he was buried in IOFF cemetery in San Francisco but removed after 1933 with all other graves and placed in different cemetery. That previous record is probably in error as an August 3, 1905 obituary in Tacoma states the remains arrived in that city on Aug 2, 1905 and were to be taken to Lakebay Cemetery in Pierce County, Washington for burial.

Usually listed as J. Edward George in news articles, this man was the owner and manager of a traveling minstrel show that employed all African-American talent. At different points he was solo or partnered with G. Hart, and the names of the outfit also changed from time to time. "George and Hart's Up-to-Date Georgia Minstrels" is the name recorded in the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History where a collection of memorabilia from them is curated.
