Virginia A. “Deane” Hubbard, 94, of Lexington, IN, passed away at 2:41 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Deane was born on Sunday, October 17, 1926, in Richmond, KY. She was the daughter of Harrison Chester and Ethel (Ray) Ray, who are both deceased.
On February 24, 1945, in Springfield, OH, Deane married Benjamin Franklin Hubbard who preceded her in death on October 24, 1974.
Deane worked at and retired after 25 years from the former ICI Americas Inc. Indiana Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, IN.
Deane was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Hibernia, IN, and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed horses, the Kentucky Derby, music, dancing, gardening, canning, and she was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. She was gifted with musical abilities and shared her talents by playing her guitar and yodeling. Deane loved family gatherings and spending the holidays with her family.
Survivors include 6 children, Linda Kaye Smith of Austin, IN, Jo Ann (Ernest Ray) Morrison of Lexington, IN, Eva Jean (James Martin) Meagher of Sellersburg, IN, Sue Carol “Cookie” (Clifford Dale) Anderson of Lexington, IN, Trudy Lynn (William Bradley ”Junior”) Napier of Lexington, IN, Marc Anthony (Karlene) Hubbard of Madison, IN, 16 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by 3 children, Virginia Faye Hubbard, Mary Ruth Capps, and Benjamin Wayne Hubbard, 7 siblings, Billy Ray, Charles Ray, Jane Awe, Ethel Denny, Dorothy Romero, Ollie Blagrave, and Ruth Estep.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Scottsburg, with burial to follow at Scottsburg Cemetery
