Ruth Adonis Ray Estepp, 84, of Ghent, Ky., died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Signature Healthcare of Trimble County in Bedford, Ky.

She was born March 25, 1932, on the family farm in Richmond, Ky., to Harrison Chester and Ethel Ray. She graduated from high school in Waco, Ky. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a double major in English and history. She resided in Elizabethtown, Ky. before moving to Tampa, Fla. She later resided in Richmond and Morning View, before settling in Gallatin County, Ky. in 1972. She worked for Westinghouse in Richmond, Ky., and later worked as a substitute teacher for Carroll County Schools. She last worked with her husband at the main gate at Kentucky Utilities. She was raised in the Baptist faith and attended Wilmington Baptist and Ghent Baptist churches. She enjoyed reading and in later years became involved in family genealogy. She was an amateur birdwatcher, and enjoyed animals and being with family.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Bruce Estepp, whom she married July 27, 1958; two daughters, Terry Ruth Estepp of Ghent, Ky. and Mary Jane Truman of Lexington; three sons, Bruce Adonis Estepp of Campbellsville, Ky., Matthew Joseph Harrison Estepp of Milton, Ky. and Moses Andrew Warren Estepp Sr. of Ghent, Ky.; one sister, Virginia Deane Ray Hubband of Lexington; one brother, Kenneth Hocker of Richmond, Ky.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Allen Ray and Charles Warren Ray; and four sisters, Ethel “Sister” Lucina Denny, Edith Jane Awe, Ollie Marie “Doll” Blagrave and Dorothy Lee Romero.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will be in Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Ky.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the service.
