Daughter of John Anderson Wilson and Nancy Ann Holiman. She bore a resemblance to her maternal grandmother and namesake, Mary Holley Stephens Wilson.

Fannie was married first to Dolphus "Dolph" Walton.
She secondly was married to Elijah Mars "Lige" Austin.
Lastly she was married to Oscar Colbert Smith with whom she was buried.

She was born on the family homestead north of Gravelly Hill in Yell County, Arkansas, close to the Dutch Creek Mountains. The farm was near a creek that early maps showed as being called Wilson's Creek in honor of her father. A great deal of her early life was spent around Paraclifta in Sevier County as did many of the Wilson's. She married at 16 and from that point on spent most of her adult life in Scott County near the Yell county line. She died at age 92.
