Jonathan was the son of John Peaslee and Abigail Crawford. He married Ellen in 1846. He was a wool worker.

Jonathan Peaslee, an old veteran of the Civil War, and highly respected citizen of this place, was buried in town Monday afternoon. For some months, Mr Peaslee has been in failing health and his death occurred last Saturday, of paralysis at the home of his brother on River Street.

Jonathan Peaslee was born in New Hampton, Jan 6, 1826, and at the time of his death was 85 years, 3 months, and 9 days of age. He married Ellen Kershaw in 1846 and she died Nov 2, 1903.

Mr Peaslee enlisted in 1861 from New York. He re-enlisted in 1863 from Wisconsin and was a member of the 21st regiment of Wisconsin infantry. After the war Mr Peaslee came to this place and has made this his home since that time. He was a wool sorter by trade and for many years was employed in the local woolen mill. He was a member of the local Grand Army and that body attended the funeral which was held at the Peaslee home on River Street. He was also a member of the local St Marks Episcopal church. The Rev Howard P Hill of Concord was the officiating clergyman, and the beareres were members of the Grand Army. Interment was in Green Grove cemetery.

Mr Peaslee is survived by two sisters and a brother, besides many more distant relatives. The sisters are Mrs Samuel Blanchard of this place and Ruth Jordan of Laconia.
