☆~ VETERAN, WORLD WAR II (1939-1945) ~☆

Pete Amateis, Jr., 90, of Bridgeport, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Heritage of Bridgeport. At his request, cremation has taken place at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. A private family inurnment is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, memorials in care of the Broadwater Fire Department and Rescue Unit may be sent to 310 W 5th Street, Apt. F, Bridgeport, NE, 69336.

Pete was born on May 30, 1921 in Broadwater to Peter Amateis, Sr. and Minnie Ricco Amateis. He attended school at the Kelly school west of Broadwater.

He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served 3 ½ years, serving 6 months active duty in Germany where he served with the 87th Division of the 345th infantry. Upon his return, he farmed with his brothers Frank and Albert.

On June 13, 1948 he married Donna Marie Blome and continued to farm until he retired in 1982.

He is survived by his wife Donna; sons Steve Amateis and friend Marsha, Philip (Carol) Amateis; grandson Ryan (Brook) Amateis; granddaughter Jennifer (Mitch) Cole; great granddaughters Caitlyn, Kambrey, Makayla and Hailey; and sister Josie Lussetto.

His parents, brothers John, Tony, Joe, Frank, Albert; sisters Mary Christopher and Edith Newkirk preceded him in death.--Bridgman Funeral Home and Cremation Service
