Josie Lussetto, the daughter of Pete and Minnie (Ricco) Amateis, was born at her parent's home in Broadwater, NE on September 26, 1917. She grew up and attended school at Kelly District #63 in Broadwater. She worked hard on the family farm alongside her brothers John, Tony, Joe, Frankie, Pete, and Albert and sisters Edith (Newkirk) and Mary (Christopher) who all preceded her in death along with her parents.
On July 21, 1942 she was married to James M. Lussetto in Gering, Nebraska. They started their new life in Nokomis, Florida where their first child Pete was born. After three years they returned to Nebraska. One year later their daughter Mimi was born. In 1948 they moved to Bridgeport to farm. Several years later their son Frank was born.
Josie was able to maintain her home in Bridgeport, living on her own with the help of her family. She had a true pioneer spirit and was never afraid to tackle adversity head on.
Known by many as Nanny, Josie will be remembered for the amazing, caring heart she had towards her family. She loved to cook and visit over a cup of coffee. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. When reading her journal the following quote was found, "I have quite a few footprints in my heart that mean so much to me. What so many people miss in life is so sad. I might be poor money wise but very, very rich in love."
She is survived by her children: Pete and Linda Lussetto of Bridgeport, NE; Minnie and Gaylen Miller of Longmont, CO; and Frank and Candy Lussetto of Broadwater, NE; her grandchildren: Glen and Lisa Lussetto, Greg and Kelly Lussetto, Jeff and Ann Miller, Jason Miller, Amy Lussetto, Kate & Chase L'Heureux, and Patrick Lussetto; 10 great-grandchildren: Sisters-in-law: Lucille Amateis; Lucy Amateis; Donna Amateis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
