"Johnson Busby was born in Harrison county, Ohio, January 22, 1827, and died at the home of his son, James Busby in Harrison County, Missouri, June 15, 1905. His early life was spent in his native state. In 1857 he removed with his family to New Sharon, Mahaska County, Iowa, where he resided until 1895, when he came to Harrison county to make his home with his son James. In early life he united with the M. E.church and was officially connected with the church for a number of years. Later, having removed from the bounds of his own church, he united with the Protestant Methodist church and remained a consistent member until his death.

His sickness was of short duration. On the morning of the day of his death he was able to be up and about the place. The summons came quickly, and without a struggle he passed to his reward. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. O. Powell of Ridgeway, at the home, and the body was laid to rest in the Ridgeway Cemetery,

He is survived by four sons and two daughters, all of whom were presented at his burial. Two sons [John W BUSBY 1847 – 1900, David J BUSBY 1849 – 1850, William Elyah BUSBY 1864 – 1872] have preceded him in death. The bereaved have the sympathy of many friends."
